UNESCO Capital

Descripción

Description

Discovering Valletta, a UNESCO Capital: Described as an open-air museum, Valletta is an exceptional city, not only for being the only European capital declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, nor for having been built by knights of a military Order, or for being the most modern European city when it was built. It's for its beauty and its history. You can discover the first on your own, but we are eager to share the rest. How could such a small island withstand the attack of two of the most powerful empires of all time? What do Malta and Spain have in common? Who was the Order of St. John? And the Order of Malta? What styles prevail in Valletta? What is Napoleon's relationship with Malta? How did Malta become a British colony? When did Malta gain independence? Who launched 3340 air raids on Malta during World War II? What shapes the Maltese character today? Where can I enjoy Maltese food? Why is there a co-cathedral in Valletta? What hides behind its Mannerist facade? Where can I see Caravaggio's paintings? All this and much more we want to tell you so that you discover Valletta at all levels, and that's why on our tour we will walk the main streets and squares, focusing on its most emblematic buildings and share the history and evolution of this city described as "an open-air museum", in an easy walk suitable for all audiences. But we will also talk about our cuisine, the films that have been shot in Malta, our traditions and peculiarities, our present and the best places in the city and its surroundings, and how to visit them in addition to answering all the questions you have about these or other topics on this tour of Valletta that will last around two hours.
